Dr. Ioanna Pagoni is a Transportation Engineer and works as a research affiliate at the Transportation and Decision Making Laboratory (TRANSDEM) at the Dept. of Shipping, Trade and Transport of the University of the Aegean and as an independent transportation consultant. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Patras.

 

Dr. Pagoni holds a Civil Engineer Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens (2009), a MSc. in Business Mathematics from the Athens University of Economics and Business and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2013) and PhD in Transportation Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, School of Civil Engineering, Department of Transportation Planning & Engineering (2017). Her PhD thesis was entitled: "Passenger travel choices and airline responses under market-based environmental policies using discrete choice modeling and game theory".

Her primary research field is air transportation analysis and modelling while other field​s include transportation system analysis, demand modelling, travel behavior analysis, discrete choice analysis, transport policy evaluation, simulation, development of econometric models, game theory, analysis of big data.

 

Dr. Pagoni has 10 years of professional and research experience in transportation engineering. Her professional and research experience includes projects and consultancies, in a national and European level. â€‹As a Consultant, she has worked for EYPALINOS Consulting Engineers on various transportation projects, for IBI Group Hellas S.A. in the context of the project "Athens International Airport Buy Side Traffic Advisory Services" and for Ascendant Program Services, LLC in the context of the project “Traffic Forecasting Services for the Privatization of the Greek Regional Airports – Clusters A & B”. She has been involved in several EU and national funded projects such as:  HARMONY, MaaS4EU, OPTIMUM, TOSCA.

Dr. Pagoni is an author of more than 50 scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals and international conference proceedings. She also serves as Reviewer in several journals, including Journal of Air Transport Management, Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, Transport Reviews, International Journal of Sustainable Transportation, Annals of Tourism Research.

She has been awarded for her research activities several times, including the Young Researcher Award at the 7th International Congress on Transportation Research (2015).
